About Mu Phi Epsilon
Mu Phi Epsilon is a co-ed, professional music fraternity founded by Dr. Winthrop S. Sterling and Elizabeth Mathias Fuqua on November 13, 1903. The Alpha chapter was founded at the Metropolitan College of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the purpose of advancing music in America and internationally, as well as promoting musicianship and scholarship among its members, loyalty to each chapter's Alma Mater, and a true bond of friendship. Last year, the international fraternity recognized its 120th anniversary. Each Founders Day is commemorated with the contribution of one Founders Day Penny to fund the scholarships and grants bestowed by the international organization.

The Phi Tau chapter was founded on March 22, 1945 at the University of North Texas. The chapter regularly engages in performances, fundraising, and service projects for the benefit of communities on campus and in the Denton area, and frequently collaborates with other musical organizations at UNT.
