Class of Spring 2023 Spotlight #1: Amanda Welch

Writer's picture: phitauchapterphitauchapter

Over the coming weeks, along with spotlighting our returning members throughout their summer adventures, we will also be spotlighting and celebrating our graduated Phi Tau Class of Spring 2023. Up first, is Amanda Welch, who graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance!

What are your plans for after graduation?

I will be pursuing a MM in Flute Performance at DePaul University in Chicago.

What has been your favorite part about being a member of the chapter, and of being a student at the UNT College of Music?

I have loved the SERV projects we do as a chapter. The Bad Advice Booth never failed to make me laugh. It brought me so much joy to perform at the nursing home last fall. I also loved singing karaoke at phormal! Hanging with my phamily after concerts in my car, having movie nights, and making garbage plates also hold a special place in my memory. Lastly, getting to perform at recitals with my quartet Fourward Momentum. Even if we didn’t always have a lot of rehearsal time :)

If you had one piece of advice to give new members of the chapter, what would it be?

Change where you sit in the meetings. Get to know as many people as you can. You might find your new best friend that you would’ve never met outside Mu Phi!

We will miss you, Amanda! Thank you for being a part of our phamily, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

Stay tuned to the blog over the coming weeks as we continue to highlight our recently graduated and returning members of the chapter! GMG, and Mu Phi For Life!
